Blessing Bethlehem Mission
Is this not the fast I have chosen; To loose the bonds of the wickedness; to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free; and that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked you cover him. (Isaiah 58:6)
In the birthplace of Christianity, Bethlehem, Christians living in the region are targeted for persecution by the radical Muslim majority. Falling 70% in less than 25 years, one generation’s span – Christians only comprised 15% of the total population of Bethlehem and its surrounding areas. Christianity is fighting to survive.
Amidst a poor economy and an inadequate and unfriendly Palestinian Authority social welfare system, thousands of Christians struggle to find employment, and worse, to simply put food on their tables. It is time for us to rise up and remember them as if they were neighbors next door.
There have been emboldened efforts of Muslim extremist to eradicate the Christian presence in the Bethlehem region through threats, unemployment discrimination and physical persecution. All of this has made it increasingly difficult for families to provide basic daily needs and consistently keep food on their tables. Their plea for help has not fallen on deaf ears, Blessings Bethlehem’s mission is to provide relief to the Christians in Bethlehem, the very birthplace of Christianity.
